Susan Boyle the much loved star of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ is presenting her own show on Sunday night. ‘I Dreamed a Dream – The Susan Boyle Story’, sponsored by the Sekonda Twilight Pearl ladies watch, is going to be aired between 9.30 and 10.30pm on Sunday night on ITV. 

The Susan Boyle show will be shown straight after the X Factor final. It is going to be a great event mostly of music but there will be some chat in between songs. The songs have been chosen by Susan, some will be from her new album.  The show is going to be presented by Piers Morgan and there will be contributions from Simon Cowell, Ant and Dec, as well as some of Susan’s friends and family. We are told that there will be some surprise guests singing with Susan as well! Apparently one of her musical heroes will be joining her on stage to sing one of her favorite songs, you will have to tune in to find out who the mystery guest will be.

The show will provide a glimpse into Susan’s history from obscurity in a small Scottish village to international super stardom. Susan’s debut album has broken records in the U.K. and the U.S., she managed to sell more records in one day than had ever been achieved before in the U.K. which sent her album to the top of the charts.

Take That are doing a one off Christmas time gig this year. Take That in Concert, sponsored by the Seksy Wave, is being shown by ITV on Saturday the 19^th of December and repeated on the 20^th. This show is definitely going to be in competition to be the most watched show over the Christmas period.

 Take That reformed in 2006 after a decade apart, since rejoining they have stormed the charts again and again. They received coveted awards including the 2007 and 2008 Best British Single awards and Best British Tour at the Brits among others. Sekonda’s Seksy Curve watches are sponsoring the Carpenters Extravaganza ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’. This unique event which will be televised on Wednesday the 18^th of November is a musical tribute to the life and works of the Carpenters.  The show brings together some of the top British music performers to celebrate the life and works of this popular American music duo.

The Carpenters have sold over 100 million records since they formed in the 1970’s. The duo were Richard and Karen Carpenter, siblings from Connecticut in the United States. Their music is characterised by a soft melodic sound which has drawn fans to them in their millions. Their music still sells today and they are greatly respected artists in the music industry.

John Sergeant’s new three part show ’John Sergeant on the Tourist Trail’ aired for the first time last night on ITV1. This show, sponsored by the Sekonda Twilight Pearl ladies watch, follows John as he follows and occasionally leads foreign tourists around the U.K.. We see American gardening enthusiasts gazing at allotments and stately home gardens, German bikers romanticising over sea views and Japanese tourists eagerly admiring Beatrice Potter’s house, and that was just the first episode. The show is designed to provide a relaxed and entertaining look at how the United Kingdom is viewed through the eyes of the world and to look at why people come here in their millions.

John Sergeant’s career has been varied; he participated in popular comedy revues whilst a student and intense political commentary as a journalist and war correspondent during conflicts in Vietnam, Israel and Northern Island. He is now known for his entertaining roles including appearances on hit BBC shows Have I Got News For You and Strictly Come Dancing. This diverse mix has prepared him well to be a tour guide. His interest in other cultures is not feigned and he takes care to never mock the tourists that he travels with, although sometimes he does lead them off the trail in the direction of peculiarly British diversions involving allotments, garden parties, croquet and Morris dancers.

The 40^th anniversary of the moon landing has been and gone, so it seemed appropriate to write a short tribute to titanium as it is known as the ’space age metal’. Named after the legendary Titans of Greek mythology titanium has been instrumental in the progress of space travel and is consistently used in aircraft and many other industries from dentistry to weaponry and of course it is also used watches. Titanium has become an essential part of modern engineering thanks to having loads of useful qualities. The best feature of titanium is that it has the highest strength to weight ratio of all metals. Plus it’s low density makes it exceptionally light weight but it is still as strong as some steels.

This means that titanium has loads of practical applications including being used as a building material for watches. It is certainly suited to use in watches because it is lightweight and strong but it is also corrosion and dent resistant. Anything worn on the wrist is destined to take a lot of hits in its life so titanium which is unlikely to be damaged by daily wear and tear is perfect for protecting the delicate workings of watches.

Titanium has a metallic white colour which is suited to contemporary watch design. It is also quite ductile when in an oxygen free environment which means that it can be easily shaped to create watch cases and bracelets. Watches like this ladies titanium Seiko, pictured above, are made from titanium and are modern, stylish and practical because of it.

One more reason why titanium is used for watches is that is is generally found to be biocompatible. This means that it is unlikely to cause an allergic reaction when in contact with skin, which is why it is often used in body jewellery and for surgical implements and implants.

Altogether titanium is a really practical metal to make a watch out of. However it does have one drawback. In the earth’s crust it is the ninth most abundant element yet it is never found in high concentrations, it is scattered around all over the place. This combined with the high number of uses there are for it means that the price of titanium remains high. Often watch makers consider it prohibitively expensive to use in watches.
