Accurist Watches – A Timeless British Classic

Accurist watches are the newest brand to join our selected range here at Find Watches. We think that Accurist watches are great, they combine everything we like about watches; great design, great customer service, great quality and of course great prices!
You may have recently seen an advert featuring a rather youthful John Cleese. It is a remake of an award winning advert that was first broadcast in 1978. When it was launched it took the TV world by storm wining loads of coveted awards including the prestigious Palme d’Or advertising award. The ‘Accu-ankle Accu-wrist’ advert drolly points out the correct location for wearing a watch. Accurist decided to re launch this ad at the end of last year to give a new generation the chance to enjoy this classic ad.
Accurist have not only won awards for advertisting but have been forerunners, since their beginning in 1948, in the British watch industry. They were the first watch brand to win an award of excellence from the National Association of Goldsmiths for contributing significantly to the British watch industry. Plus they have won awards for design and customer service from other major British institutions. All of this contributes to their belief that their brand is a ‘timeless British classic’.
Accurist have strong ties with another British institution, the Royal Greenwich Observatory. In 1884 it was decided that this observatory would be at 0 degrees latitude making it the official start to the global day. Accurist watches are the only official sponsors of the Greenwich Observatory, a esteemed position given the heritage of the site. On midnight December 31st 1999, all news cameras were focused on a large Accurist clock that was counting down to the official start of the millennium.
Accurist watches have also been associated with another British classic, B.T.’s speaking clock. It has received over 3.5 billion calls since it began in 1986. Recently Accurist decided to give it a makeover and initiated a project called ‘Real British Time’. This is an on line project that features people from all over the country reading out the hour, minutes and seconds of every 10 second time slot. Their aim was to create a social phenomena that would reflect a cross section of contemporary British society.
